November weather made it a little harder for the Ashington FC girls this month as they had a couple of their games cancelled due to waterlogged pitches and overall bad weather. However, the matches that could be played the girls gave it their all and did themselves proud.
The team played their first game of the month on the 12th November and a tough game it was. Due to a waterlogged pitch the game had to be rearranged to an away match and with only six players instead of the required seven it wasn’t going to be an easy one. Despite this, the girls put in a fantastic team effort.
This weekend, the girls were able to return to playing football and despite the wintery conditions with a frosty pitch the ground underneath was perfect for them to play on. The team quickly warmed up with all the running around they did before the game. It was another clean sheet for the Ashington FC goalkeeper, a hattrick for the striker and with three other goal scorers all the girls had a fantastic game. There were even a few new skills being put on display.
On the next pitch over from the U12s, six hardy U10 players were having lots of fun and laughter going through a series of drills. The players have been improving with every season which means we could start to see some taster matches on the cards.
Finally, the U14s drew 1-1 away at Thakeham FC which currently puts them second on goal difference in the Division Two table.
The teams may not have been able to play as many matches as they would have liked but the games they did play were fantastic. Well done to all the teams at Ashington FC, we can’t wait to see what December brings.
