LJS are delighted to continue our support of Women’s football, and we have taken it to grassroots as we have signed a minimum two-year contract to be the proud sponsors of the Ashington FC Girls U12s team.
We are excited to be working with the football club and to be able to support the team throughout the season. We believe that it is imperative to have the facilities to partake in the sport you love, and we encourage the continued growth of the Women’s game, starting with the next generation of Lionesses.
The sponsorship not only provides a playing kit for the team, but we are also sponsoring training tops and provided funds for equipment required, to allow the girls to have every chance of success.
The team play in the Sussex County Women & Girls football league wearing their signature black and red striped kit which we’re loving with the new LJS logo.
The girls showcased their new kit during their first game of the season at home on Sunday 3rd September with the girls playing some brilliant football which included some great goals. The team had a break the following week with no match scheduled and due to an untimely storm, their match on Sunday 17th September was abandoned. The team then finished their September fixtures with a game at home against Burgess Hill Town Juniors.
Overall, it has been a great start to the season for the girls at Ashington FC. Throughout October the U12 Girls yet again played some clever fast moving football and managed the remarkable feat of getting all but one of the players on the scoresheet. The only non- goal-scorer was, of course, the player who kept the team a clean sheet. With their regular goal-keeper unavailable, one of the outfield players stepped up and did a magnificent job.
We can’t forget to mention the Ashington U14 Girls who played their latest match against Horsham Sparrows, a single goal in the second half meant that the girls are at the top of the Division 2 table. The Ashington Swifts Women’s Recreational team played in the first FA recreational football festival of the season on Friday 30th September. It was a difficult challenge for the team, who played against a new team to the event, in the end they played a fantastic game of football, but it just wasn’t their day. The Women’s recreational team will play in the next festival on Friday 27th October. We wish all the teams the best of luck!
At LJS we’ve always been advocates of women and girls football which is why we wanted to get involved in supporting a local girls team and being able to watch them succeed in becoming the best they can be.
Over the years women’s football has started to get the recognition it deserves, with increased television coverage, increased stadium capacities, record breaking transfers and fantastic tournaments. After seeing the England team win the 2022 Euros and successfully making it to the 2023 World Cup Final, the girls have got plenty of inspiration to look up to.
We’re looking forward to being part of such a brilliant, local football team and hope our sponsorship can inspire the girls for a great season ahead. We would also like to say a big thank you to Sarah, the girls’ coach at Ashington FC, for keeping us up to date with all the match reports as well as running the many girls football teams on offer. Keep your eyes peeled for monthly updates on how the team are getting on.
